In 1996 I came to Scotland to complete a Masters Degree in law. Writing my dissertation during the summer, I was looking for something to do during the evenings and discovered that Aberdeen Gaelic Choir was practicing on Tuesday nights. Curious, I went along and, as they say, the rest is history. I fell in love with the beautiful music, joined the choir and, staying at the university to do a PhD, attended undergraduate Gaelic classes to find out what I was actually singing there!

Singing in various languages has become one of the greatest joys in my life, and I love sharing my songs and their stories with an audience. Over the years, I have built a repertoire of a wide variety of songs, having been privileged to learn from some of the greatest traditional singers.

I am very much indebted to the wonderful teachers who have been working with me - the late Isobel MacDonald Mitchell, then Kirsteen Grant, Paul McCallum and currently Magdalena Durant. They have been wonderful singing teachers. Donnie Murdo MacLeod and Paul McCallum have helped me do justice to and get ‘inside’ the beautiful Gaelic songs.

In 2019, I treated myself to a new camera, a DSLR, and since then have been experimenting with nature photography. My dad taught me love and respect for all living things, be they fauna or flora, and this love has found an ‘outlet’ in taking photos of the beauty of nature.

From childhood on, I have also been interested in myths and legends and suddenly had the idea to combine that with my photography.
